Did you know your skin is the largest organ in your body?
Not only does it protect our internal organs, but it also helps regulate temperature, acts as an immune defence, helps vitamin production, and gives us sensation. Now, with this in mind we need to be very conscious on the skin care products we use as it only takes 26 seconds for our blood stream to absorb what we apply on our skin😲
Taking care of our skin starts with us having the right knowledge that empowers us to make smart purchases of skincare products and practising great skincare routines that benefit our skin. The internet is a buzz on all the dos and don’ts, and it can sometimes get very confusing on what is good and what is bad, don’t worry we are here to help you sift through all the noise.
Here are 5 tips to consider when choosing your skin care products:
- READ your labels! Knowledge is power and ignorance is no excuse
Look out for parabens, phthalates, sulphates, formaldehydes & amp; artificial dyes as they classified as carcinogenic ingredients that we should all avoid as they interfere with our hormones functioning properly. - Don’t follow trends in skin care, know your skin type and use products that work for you and if at first you don’t succeed try again
- Research! Did you know that the scientific name for Shea butter is Butyrospermum parkii? If an ingredient is not familiar to you, google it and remember just because you cannot pronounce does not mean it’s bad for you.
- Glowing skin is a long game and patience is your friend. If you’re constantly changing your skin care routine, it will be difficult to monitor your progress remember Consistent actions creates consistent results.
- Choose skin care products who you believe in their ethos, brands that you connect with like Hawi!
